Design & Build

Extraordinary transformations are our expertise! Our talented Shonnard’s landscape designers and crews are available to create and install the landscape of your dreams.

Our creative team will bring your vision of rustic stone paths, lush plantscapes, and calming water features to life, making sure they satisfy your everyday needs. We specialize in construction of ponds, pavers, stone masonry, unique and functional plantings, custom wood-work, and irrigation systems.

Additionally, our designers can provide you with a full, on-paper design with plant selections to help you see your space take form. See our fees to the right.

Design Fees

Initial consultation FREE.
Bid proposal for installation FREE.
Travel outside 10 miles from our store is $3.00 per mile, one way.
Design time billed at $135 an hour.

We reserve design-only services for the Winter months when hands-on projects slow down, and as we have availability throughout the busy season. We expect to resume design-only requests in late Fall 2024 – Winter 2025.

Design Consultations

What to expect from a design consultation with Shonnard’s Landscaping Experts

During Your Consultation

Our designers will walk your property and listen to your ideas. If you have photos or sketches, this is a great time to share this information.

We will also discuss the functionality of your space and consider how it will be used.

For example:

Will it be used by kids or pets?
Will it be a space for entertaining larger parties?
Will it require low or high maintenance?
Will it need an irrigation system?

In addition, site measurements and notes will be taken at the consultation, so our designer can prepare a bid for the work.

Following Your Appointment

Once you have received the project bid, and had a chance to review it, our designer will be happy to schedule a call or meeting to discuss further details. We will then accommodate revisions if necessary.

If all parties agree on the scope and budget, our designer will provide information on next steps, and how to get you into our construction schedule.

Do I Need a Design?

Our designer will help you determine if a fully labeled landscape design is needed. We generally find that a design is helpful for large projects when work will take place in phases, in order to see a detailed visualization of the space and/or plant placement.

For consideration, if a fully labeled landscape design is requested, then this may extend the turnaround time of the bid.

Considering Your Budget

It can be difficult to give a rough quote without looking at your property. We have to consider your existing landscape, access to the area, and whether we’re dealing with slopes or other important factors. This can be addressed on-site during your consultation.

After doing this for over 30 years, we have found we are a good fit for projects starting at $8,000. If you have a smaller project – we have some great referrals.

Pond & Water Feature Maintenance

We love our ponds, and keeping them healthy and running clean is very important. In addition to installing water features, our Pond Division provides full maintenance services.

Our team offers routine monthly maintenance and seasonal maintenance such as winterizing, as well as on-call cleanup and repair services. Give us a call at 541-929-3524 to request maintenance services, or send us a message.

Irrigation Services

A properly functioning irrigation system is very important to a beautiful healthy landscape. Shonnard’s Landscape Division has a full service irrigation team, specializing in both drip and below ground systems.

Our irrigation team offers routine maintenance, on call emergency repairs, and design and installation services.

Backflow Services

A backflow prevention device is the unit that prevents dirty used water from flowing back into the good clean water we use to drink. Backflow prevention devices are required to be tested once a year. Our professional irrigation staff includes certified testers.

Customers can request device testing on a call-in basis, schedule us to automatically test each year and send a bill, or can sign up for our annual Sprinkler/Backflow Program.

Shonnard’s Sprinkler/Backflow Program is a combination service plan that includes:

First hour of service for the spring irrigation system turn-on/check
One backflow test
First hour of service for the irrigation turn off/fall winterization

Labor that exceeds 1 hour and any needed materials are billed additionally. The Sprinkler/Backflow Program does not include repair work. The program runs year-round.
