Mark your calendars! Package bee orders will be available for pickup on Sunday, April 16th at Shonnard’s Nursery between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm. The pickup times below are suggestions aimed at reducing waiting time when you arrive – you may certainly come when it is most convenient for you.
Picking up your bees on Sunday is preferred, but we realize this date is not ideal – the weather in California has been tricky this season! If you are unable to come that day, you may get your bees directly from Ethan Bennett of Honey Tree Apiaries on Monday from his business in Monroe (address listed below). Packages not picked up on Sunday by 4pm will be taken to Monroe – they will not be held at Shonnard’s.

Be sure to have your hive equipment assembled, painted, and ready for your bees. You will also need some sugar syrup made ahead of time (cooled to room temperature) to feed your bees once they are installed in the hive. You can view our sugar syrup tutorial here. Protein patties are also a good addition – your bees have no pollen or honey in reserve. Full instructions detailing how to install your bees and hang the queen cage will be provided when you pick up your bees.
