NUCLEUS BEE HIVES PICK-UP DAY
Our bee supplier, Fred Selby, has been busy making nucs for everyone and is concerned that many queens have not been properly mated due to weather conditions. Because of this, he has asked that nuc day be pushed back one week to allow for new queens to be introduced. Your success is our first priority, and having a strong queen is the first step to success.
We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to getting your healthy nucs to their new homes!
SATURDAY, JUNE 3rd
The pickup times below are suggestions aimed at reducing waiting time when you arrive – you may certainly come when it is most convenient for you during our store hours. Picking up your bees at the suggested time is preferred, but we realize this may not be ideal!
Nucleus hive orders will be available for pick-up Saturday, June 3rd at Shonnard’s Nursery, starting at 9am.

Nuc purchases are for PICK-UP AT OUR STORE IN CORVALLIS ONLY. WE DO NOT SHIP NUCS.
IMPORTANT: If you are going to be out of town that weekend, check to see if a friend or family member can pick up your bees for you! The nucs are in bee-tight boxes suitable for travel. They can place your nuc where your hive will be, crack open the entrance, and leave the bees for you to install when you return home.
Be sure to have your hive equipment assembled, painted, and ready for your bees. You will also need some sugar syrup made ahead of time (cooled to room temperature) to feed your bees once they are installed in the hive. You can view our sugar syrup tutorial here. Protein patties are also a good addition – your bees have some pollen and honey in reserve, but will be growing quickly and will benefit from the nutritional boost as they become established.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU ARRIVE
Upon your arrival, enter our store through the main doors and check-in at our floral counter located on the south side of our store. We’ll ask for your name to find your order, give you a copy of installation instructions, and then send you out to get your bees.
