Growing a garden is good for mind, body and soul.  Gardening is exercise – garden tasks such as digging, weeding, hoeing, and planting are repetitive exercises that provide both muscular and aerobic benefits.  As an opportunity to get outdoors and away from nagging electronic devices and deadlines, gardening also reduces stress; and the connection with the larger world of living things gives gardening an inherent value, above and beyond the actual edible or aesthetic rewards for the work.
