As early as mid August, some of the plants around us begin signaling the changing season.
By the end of September, the changes – in weather, in social rhythms, and in the plants – are unmistakable. In a show as bright and intense as the spring bloom season, they are beckoning us to join them in acknowledging and even celebrating the end of one stage and the beginning of another.
People sense and respond to seasonal changes too – sometimes to the annual cycles of the world around us, sometimes according to larger rhythms in their lives.
Our landscapes can help remind us to embrace, even celebrate these inevitable changes. Different people respond to different hues of the fall display, and some enjoy them all.
