Shonnard's History

The Shonnard family - front, Lynnette and Andrea; back, Joel and Chris - own Shonnard's Nursery, Florist and Landscape in Corvallis, OregonFor more than 25 years, Shonnard’s Nursery, Florist and Landscape has provided plants, gardening supplies and helpful advice to Corvallis gardeners.

Since owners Chris and Lynnette Shonnard bought the business in the mid-80s, they’ve increased and improved – building a new garden center and adding floral and landscaping services. Kids Andrea and Joel are a big part of the business as well. Andrea completed a degree in Merchandise Management from Oregon State University in 2005 and now works as the merchandiser and buyer for Shonnard’s. Joel earned his degree in horticulture from OSU in 2006 and works in Shonnard’s landscape division.

1976: Chris started working at Flower Land
1977: Lynnette went looking for a job and was hired on at Flower Land
1979: Move to Redmond, Oregon
1979: Chris and Lynnette begin a lifelong relationship together
1982: Andrea was born; 16 months later in 1983, Joel was born – and the party begins
1984: Flower Land West is offered to Chris and Lynnette for purchase
1984: Move into House on nursery
1986: Purchase half of Flower Land West
1988: Purchase second half of Flower Land West. Change name to Shonnard’s Nursery, Florist, & Landscape
1987: Move out of House on nursery
December 1987: House transformed in the new Florist retail space
1999: Nursery torn down and nursery moves into Garage of house with a tent extension
April 2000: Nursery finished and open for business in the nick of time for spring; cars line Country Club Drive for Grand Opening
